  1. What is your full name? Richie Joseph French
  2. Where we your born? Christchurch
  3. What is your favourite place in New Zealand? Kaikoura Alps
  4. What do you like to do to relax? I like to go somewhere far away from people and look out over a view and just take in the moment. Usually if I’m training by myself running up a mountain or along a beach or zoning out on a kickboxing bag.
  5. What is your signature cooking/baking dish? Boil up & Fry up
  6. What do you do for a job? Carpenter
  7. Are you a fan of the proposed new NZ flag or the current flag? Current flag
  8. What is the best compliment you have ever received? I coach our children’s under 7 grade. The most inspired complement I have received was when a parent came up to me and said you mean the world to our kids they speak of you at night before bed how much they admire their coach and the great things they teach us. That touched me deep.
  9. What is your favourite thing about Rugby League? The hits! Nothing better than that perfect timing and throwing everything you have into your opposition.
  10. If you weren’t playing Rugby League, what sport would you play? Currently I kickbox and compete in mixed martial arts aka mma. So I would continue this.
  11. Who introduced you to playing for the Hornets? My partner Stacey got me playing league. Wish I had played earlier. Also had the direction of my fellow team mate Adam Kelso suggesting to play for halswell too.
  12. How long have you been playing for the Hornets? 5years
  13. How many years have you played Premiers? Had my first serious go at premiers 2015.
  14. What position do you play? Over the years I’ve only played wing. Because I was fairly new to the sport. Pretty much learned everything their from watching my team. In the last year a d a bit I’ve stepped into the forwards playing loose forward to second row. And loving the transition. Defence is my ultimate game.
  15. What position would you like to play? I’ve allways wanted to play Centre when I first discovered the sport my eyes been on the prize ever since. But I’m happy to play where ever I’m needed.
  16. Who is the “dark horse” for the Hornets this season? Definitely Cheyne Turahui. He’s an inspiration to myself and plays on my level. Bit of bromance their I think. Hahaha
  17. Who do you think will win the Premiers Player of the Year Award in 2016? That’s a hard one. Considering I Didint expect to receive it last year and honored. I predict one of our new fresh players on the scene.
  18. Who do you think will win the 2016 CRL Grand Final? The mighty halswell hornets of course.
  19. Who will win the NRL in 2016? That’s an easy one. Seaeagles by far 😊. I love my nz warriors but I’ve allways backed the mighty seaeagles.
  20. Who do you think will win State of Origin in 2016? New South!! In your mouth lol. NSW Will step up.
  21. Final word, what piece of advice would you give to young Hornets who want to play Premiers one day? Come support us. Ask us questions pull one of us aside after a game and just talk we love to talk. Most important is listen to your coaches. If you feel like your not so good at something that you want to improve on spend time on it and practise ask your coach for help or advice or better yet talk to your premiers.
