CANTERBURY RUGBY LEAGUE POSTPONES MAJORITY OF OPENING DAY DUE TO GROUND CLOSURES.

Canterbury Rugby league has made the decision today to postpone all rugby league this coming weekend below Premier B level.

What this means is that only Premier and Premier B rugby league will be played in Canterbury this weekend.

CRL has worked tirelessly over the past week in trying to ensure as many grounds as possible were ready to play on and up until and email from the CCC today at 11.50am were confident that would be the case. The CCC however has closed almost our entire allocation of parks across the city due to them not being marked.

CRL is extremely disappointed at having to make such a decision however with the grounds being closed, had little choice.

General Manger Craig Kerr says “Our clubs and community have worked very hard on getting teams together in readiness for tomorrows opening day and will no doubt be “gutted” at this outcome”.

We have tried to contact the appropriate person from the CCC for comment however at the time of writing have been unable to speak with anyone directly”.
